Night In Museum Secret Of The Tomb

Seventy-six years later in New York City, five years after the events of the previous film, Larry Daley remains the night guard of the Museum of Natural History. He and the other exhibits are hosting an event to help re-open the Hayden Planetarium. As Larry makes sure everything is ready, the other exhibits inform him that the museum commissioned a new Neanderthal model resembling Larry. The new Neanderthal calls himself Laaa and considers Larry his father. Later, Ahkmenrah shows Larry that the tablet has a mysterious corrosion. As the corrosion spreads, the exhibits act abnormally and cause massive chaos at the planetarium. After calming the situation, Larry, frustrated, returns home to find his teenage son Nick throwing a party.

Night In Museum Secret Of The Tomb

To discover what is happening to the tablet, Larry reunites with now-retired Cecil, a member of the expedition who discovered the tomb. Cecil remembers "the end will come" prophecy and realizes it refers to the tablet's magic ending and the exhibits becoming lifeless. Cecil says Ahkmenrah's parents, Merenkahre and Shepseheret, may be able to restore the tablet's power, but that they are in the British Museum. Larry convinces museum curator Dr. McPhee, who was fired due to the planetarium incident, to let him ship Ahkmenrah to London to restore the tablet, although McPhee believes the magic is just clever special effects. Larry and Nick travel the U.K. and go to the British Museum, bypassing the night guard Tilly. Larry discovers that some of the American exhibits have stowed away with Ahkmenrah: Theodore Roosevelt, Sacagawea, Attila the Hun, miniatures Jedediah and Octavius, Dexter the capuchin monkey, and Laaa. As Larry and the others search the museum, the tablet brings the British exhibits to life.

Three years later, Larry now works as a school teacher after the museum rehired McPhee. Tilly, the new night guard, brings a traveling exhibit to New York in a collaboration with the Museum of Natural History. In McPhee's office, Tilly hands the tablet to McPhee, showing him its power and allowing the exhibits to awaken again as they throw a huge party. From across the street, Larry quietly observes the celebration and smiles.

The first film was released on December 22, 2006, written by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon of Comedy Central's Reno 911! and MTV's The State, and directed by Shawn Levy. A new novelization of the screenplay by Leslie Goldman was published as a film tie-in. Larry is a struggling inventor who is trying to bond with his son, so to make ends meet he takes a job as the night guard for the AMNH. He learns from the retiring guards on how to deal with the various exhibits as they come to life because of a magical golden tablet displayed with Egyptian royalty Ahkmenrah. Recognizing the responsibility he has to keep order, he also has to fend off a nefarious plot to plunder the museum of its magic and riches.

At the Museum of Natural History, there's a new exhibit being unveiled. Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), who manages the night exhibit where the exhibits come to life because of the Tablet of Ahkmenrah, is in charge of the presentation. But when the exhibits go awry, Larry finds himself in trouble. He learns the Tablet is corroding so he does some research and learns that Cecil, the former museum guard, was at the site when the Tablet was discovered. He tells Larry they were warned if they remove it could mean the end. Larry realizes it means the end of the magic. He talks to Ahkmenrah who says that he doesn't know anything. Only his father the Pharaoh knows the Tablet's secrets. He learns that the Pharaoh was sent to the London museum. So he convinces Dr. McPhee, the museum curator, to help send him to London. He takes Ahkmenrah with him but some of the others tag along, like Teddy Roosevelt, Attila, Octavius, and Jedediah.

For those who are uninitiated in this series, Ben Stiller plays Larry Daley, a man who was trying to find a job and some stability so that he could continue to have a relationship with his son, Nick, who lived with his mother. Larry secures a nightwatchman position at a New York Museum where everything mysteriously comes to life at night because of a golden tablet found in the Egyptian tomb of Mehrenkahre and his sons. In the original Night at the Museum, we meet Ahkmenrah, the son who helps Larry stop the plot of the aging and recently fired nightwatchmen (played by Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, and Bill Cobbs) to rob the museum and steal the tablet. In that film we were introduced to a cast of characters including a wax version of Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Sacajawea (Mizuo Peck), Dexter the monkey, Attila the Hun (Patrick Gallagher), and two miniature figures named Jedediah (Owen Wilson) and Octavius (Steve Coogan), who are meant to be depicting the old west and ancient Rome. 2ff7e9595c
